Click ads to support bloggers? Or… do you have the minefield mentality?

Categories: Open Source

Minefield mentality… stepping around the ads on purpose… like they're gonna blow up any second.

How do you support other bloggers… or rather, do you support other bloggers? Do you shy away from the Ads on their sites? If so, why? Don't you want other folks to click on your ads?

This is my problem… I try to read new blogs everyday. Almost every blog has ads, right? I caught myself working around the ads, almost cringing at the fact that ads were even in the way.  Then I thought to myself, "I want people to click on my ads, so why would I not truly look at the ads on the blog I'm reading, and if I see something of interest, click on it? This would support the blogger who took the time to get my attention." I wouldn't be make him/her much money, but that's not the point… it's all about supporting this technology and its growth.

So, moving forward, I've decided to actually click on the ads I find interesting. I certainly don't suggest clicking on every ad you see, but only the ones that might be of interest. Take a short moment to look at the ads. If you don't have interest, don't click. Not only does it support the blogger, but it truly does bring value to the advertiser and validates their marketing investment, but it funds the pool at Google, who in return pays us… right?

So, next time you visit a new bloggers blog, be conscience of your attitude towards the ads… you might catch yourself thinking the same thing I did.
