Open source analogy. Imagine that….

Open source technology has provided so many opportunities, it’s ridiculous. At 28 years of age, with 2 kids and the 3rd on the way,  I’ve acquired a 400k house, nice cars, nice furniture, Persian rugs, and more…. All because of open source technology.

How? Well… let me explain… imagine, if you will, you were a mechanic. How great would that be if you were given a complete foundation to practice your craft? As a mechanic, you need a facility, or facilities to work on your cars and you need tools.  Now, imagine that along with the facilities and tools, you’re given an endless supply of brand-new, shiny automobiles… all shapes and sizes. With these, you can build upon them, redesign them, tear ‘em down – just to rebuild them.  The sky’s the limit…  Now that you’ve rebuilt or redesigned the endless supply of free cars, you can sell them, for top dollar. Or, you can allow clients to tell you what they want and you can build the cars custom…

Now, take that model (loosely) and apply it to technology. Open source is simply an excellent platform to innovate, create, re-think,  and monetize.

Like I said, open source has changed my life… drastically. Here’s a quick list of what I’ve been able to acquire…

House: 400k
Cars (2): 70k
Art: 50k
