Broadband – Okay, let’s just get down to the bottom of it. Comcast, you suck.

Who has the best broadband service? IF you go to the broadband speedtest site, (www.speedtest.net) you’ll see who’s got the best broadband. This is such a cool site… I love it. Here’s where we stand in the rankings/by country.

Japan 11941 kb/s 5543 kb/s
Sweden 8122 kb/s 2733 kb/s
Latvia 6901 kb/s 2622 kb/s
Romania 6430 kb/s 3019 kb/s
Lithuania 5632 kb/s 3548 kb/s

and by continent

North America 4514 kb/s 890 kb/s
Europe 3822 kb/s 855 kb/s
Australasia 3694 kb/s 462 kb/s
Asia 2049 kb/s 633 kb/s
South America 843 kb/s 273 kb/s

Too bad this tool is only for a speedtest. I think they need a tool strictly dedicated to the crappiness of comcast. Have you ever tried ordering a UFC fight, thinking you’re good to go… then when the fights are starting, you can’t get a signal and have to sit and wait on the frickin’ phone for 45 minutes? It happens to me every frickin’ time. I even try to call way ahead… but they just tell me, “you’re all set!, enjoy the fight.” Bastards. You would’nt believe how many sites are out there about comcast and their poor service. Do a google search for “comcast sucks.” You’ll see what I mean.
If you’re looking for a quality broadband provider, check out http://www.bt.com/ - they’re great.

Here’s a touching comcast story:

  2. Interesting article … I’ve always wondered what accounts for the very slow upload speeds in North America … do you know? Surely it’s not the technology (or is it?). Is it regulatory? If you know, and can explain, I’d love to read about it.

I keep waiting for an upload speed breakthrough where we can post gobs of pictures at a reasonable speed … will I be waiting forever?
