Wow! Thank you for showing all of us this helpful resource. “Promotional sprouts are ideal for musicians, politicans, non-profits or any person or organization that has “fans” and wants to provide them with a chunk of Web content that can be virally spread,” is on the “What is Sprouts” page. I wonder if your content is for profit if it will be allowed. It doesn’t say one way or the other in the terms. Does anyone know?

I’ve heard about this, and it’s definitively something I might try in the future. I hope people don’t go widget crazy and every webpage becomes Myspace v2

Great find. I am building a collections of these flash based online software sites. A couple of other cool ones: Aviary and Blist. Depending on where they take Blist, this could replace my downloadable software.

I read somewhere that Sprout no longer offer free accounts. What are the other widget builders available out there now that offer free accounts to try out?

correction, Sprout offers free accounts with a limitation of 3 widgets. Free accounts also are associated with advertising.
