Great list. The problem is how could anyone get a handle on that many CMS systems. I run my blog on Wordpress and I can’t image even allocating the time to find a better one (if there even is one). I have built some special projects based CMS’s and I took a hard look at Joomla, Drupal, and Radiant and wound up picking Drupal. I know Moodle seems to have a great niche for education CMS’s and Alfreso appears to be a strong document CMS play. It took me quite a few hours just to be able to identify those five CMS’s and CMS is not nesciarilyl what I do for a living.
Honestly, how would one even start with a list like yours as great as it is.

A repeated post?
1) 102 is a drop in the CMS bucket. John, the answer to your question is – they would not.
2) This is a list of 102 WEB content management systems. Thankfully WCM does not represent the entire breadth and depth of CM.
3) Lists like these are precisely why people remain so confused about content management.
Jason, Great list, only missing Hippo CMS.
this company (www.onehippo.com) has managed to provide their product as a free download and offer commercial support to companies who need this. since spring this year they also have an office in usa (san francisco).
Excellent list. Most I have heard of, some are new. This compilation must have taken forever! I appreciate the effort. No list can be exhaustive, but I attended OSCON 2008 and found Concrete5 CMS. They went with the MIT license at their opening. Top notch CMS with the most amazing backend I have seen.
