This article is spot on! Vista looks good, but it has a number of serious issues. First, the multitude of different versions. That was a stupid marketing gimmick to get people to upgrade. Two versions would have been plenty. Vista Home Basic is the worst pile of garbage ever produced.

Second, Vista has weird networking problems. Third, it's a memory pig and NO you don't have to be a bloated memory pig to enable multiple-core processors. It's just bad code.

Fourth, there are odd incompatabilities with software. Quickbooks users now the pain of trying to transfer their company files to Vista. Printing in quickbooks is also buggy under Vista. Again... bad code that was rushed out the door to quickly.

Mojave was a stupid ad campaign. The people in the ads are dorks. "I am a PC and I like pancakes." Really? That's smart marketing??

First off your analogy is off i will have to say. The ball is fore times heaver is right.... but that's only because its made to run on the duel cores and quad (that's four times faster so that part is really accurate). Its not made for P4's.

And as for the network part, you cant fail out something because of a network/single thing, it could just as well be the driver (which isn't made by MS and may even be a problem with the hardware or even caused by an other program your running) Also vista on a laptop.... your joking right? Unless its alien-ware or has a dedicated GPU then it shouldn't be on there.

To round it all up, i have not had a problem with my OS (Vista of coarse) and i run a huge range of applications. And i do know what i like best because i am using a tri boot (thats three OS's on one computer, Vista, XP Pro 64, and Ubuntu) i know what im talking about. And once again, i have had no problems.

Actually Vista is a good operating system. People who have the bare minimum system requirements have problems with the operating system, but the same can be said about any operating system. If you have the recommended system requirements and take 5 minutes to learn how the system works you would find that it is actually a good operating system. And besides Microsoft spends more money then you think on R&D to make their technology better, so all of the bugs you talked about are being fixed, if not already. And about the WiFi issue you had, it could just be a hardware issue not the software because I've had laptops with defective WiFi adapters, I've never had any problems with WiFi.

vista sucks? compared to what? windows XP? sure if thats what your used to. get a machine with windows vista certified hardware, make sure you meet the recommended system requirements and then see how it runs. your comparing apples to oranges my friend.

personally i think it should have never been released in 32bit form. it can easily use more than 4 gb of ram. i had been using the 32bit version with 4 gb of ram when i first built my latest computer and was not happy with the performance. I switched over to the 64bit version of vista ultimate and slapped another 4 gb or ram in there and now I am very much impressed with how it performs. Its just as stable as my old 32bit xp pro maybe even more so. I really think the biggest problem people have with the reliability of windows vista has to be that they dont have a system that can run it in the first place.

bottom line: operating systems get bloated over time, get used to it. your 3 year old computer that runs windows XP like a champ probably wont run vista very well, just stick with what you've got until it doesn't work for you anymore. when that day comes, be ready to fork over some dough for a meatier system.
